Peewee LL 2, U13, 2012-2013 (Walkerton Minor Hockey Association)

    The Prestige boys and their parents are wondering, what will we do until hockey season starts again? Don't worry...your're in luck since soccer and baseball are just around the corner.  It is with sadness and joy that the 2012-2013 hockey season draws to a close.  Thanks is extended to the talented coaching staff, the players, and the devoted fans who made it enjoyable to watch each week.     To end our season, Walkerton 1 took on the Prestige boys (Walkerton 2) on Sunday, March 10th at noon. It was a fast paced game.  The first period ended with no scoring by either team. 

    Walkerton worked hard as a team and showed lots of perseverence against Mildmay on Saturday, March 9th at 10am when they hit the ice in Walkerton. Mildmay got on the scoreboard first at 8:04 of the first period, as Jared Pletch made a pad save but the rebound was deflected in the net.

    On Monday, March 4th, the Prestige team fought hard, but suffered defeat to Durham in overtime. Durham got on the scoreboard first at 2:09 of the first frame. Walkerton quickly responded with a goal of their own at 1:11. Brenden Hinds passed from the side of the net out to the point. Denver Turnbull wasted no time as he ripped one past the glove of the goalie. What an amazing goal Denver! This evened the game 1-1.

     It was a slow paced game with chances by both teams in the first and second periods, but the score remained 0-0 until the third period. Notable chances came from Nathaniel Illerbrunn at 5:28 of the first frame as Illerbrunn had a turn-around shot but the goalie stopped it with a pad save and Ryan Goetz at 5:13. Goetz zinged a hard shot that was stopped and later retrieved his own rebound.

    It was a clean and well executed game up until the last few minutes of the game on Wednesday, February 20th. The Prestige boys came out on top 4-3 in a close, head to head game.     At 3:31 of the first frame, Jaden Dietz passed to Jordan Lang, who made a beautiful pass to Brenden Hinds, putting the Prestige team up 1-0 late in the first period. RKS responded quickly with a goal by Landon Moore at 2:24. A quick glove save by Jared Pletch kept it tied 1-1. Darren Rich and Noah Currie teamed up, but were kept off the scoreboard on their opportunity.     At 8:31 of the second period, ...
