Prestige Boys Win Against Walkerton 1
It was a game of determination for the Walkerton teams as they faced off on Monday, February 11th at 6:30. The Prestige boys came on full force and had many good chances. It looked like we scored but the game continued. Play was mainly in the opposition's zone, but it was Walkerton 1 who got on the scoreboard first at 5:18 of the first period with a rocket shot to the glove side of Jared Pletch.  The Prestige boys went on the attack and didn't give up. Brenden Hinds responded as he tipped in a shot by Thomas Crummer.  A breakaway chance by Jordan Lang was pushed aside and Illerbrunn's attempt was also defeated.

Walkerton 1 went up 2-1 midway through the second period as Prestige applied pressure in the offensive zone and couldn't get back into position quickly enough with a cross crease pass that was deflected in the net. Playing shorthanded, Hinds had a great opportunity to tie it up, but was denied. Crummer's nifty chance was also pushed aside, but maintained in the zone by Lang, who fed the puck to Ryan Goetz.  Goetz had an open net and potted one in. This evened the score 2-2 at the two minute mark of the second frame. The solid defensive skills by Stumpfle, Turnbull and Dietz  were felt throughout the game. Each of you should be commended for your effort! There was a hit to the crossbar that deflected out and Currie's amazing effort with twenty seconds left, where he was robbed to end the period.
The third period brought lots of action by the Prestige boys, yet it was Walkerton 1 advancing the score 3-2 early in the third.  Prestige's "don't give up" attitude, along with their solid defensive skills and flurry of offense couldn't be contained.  When there were matched penalties, Tanner Stumpfle and Darren Rich executed a great play, but it was halted by the goalie. The Prestige boys netted the tying goal by Goetz, his second of the night. Crummer and Pletch picked up the assists, as the boys in white kept banging at the net. A chance by Rich, Currie and Pletch was also shot down.  Jared Pletch stopped Walkerton with a screened glove save late in the third period.  Determined digging by Joel Pletch against the boards netted the winning goal, as the puck hit the crossbar and went downward. This advanced the Prestige team 4-3. Hard working Denver Turnbull and Nathaniel Illerbrunn picked up the assists. This fired the boys in white up more, ending the period with more offensive plays, like hitting the crossbar by Hinds.
Fantastic team effort boys! We'll catch you on the ice Saturday morning at 10am against Walkerton 3.
