Prestige Boys Suffer a Loss to Durham
On Monday, March 4th, the Prestige team fought hard, but suffered defeat to Durham in overtime. Durham got on the scoreboard first at 2:09 of the first frame. Walkerton quickly responded with a goal of their own at 1:11. Brenden Hinds passed from the side of the net out to the point. Denver Turnbull wasted no time as he ripped one past the glove of the goalie. What an amazing goal Denver! This evened the game 1-1.

Durham advanced for a second time at 13:33 as they maneuvered past the defense and got a shot away. This made it 2-1. A pad save by Jared Pletch kept the game within reach.  Moments later, Walkerton continued to apply pressure as Darren Rich, Brenden Hinds and Noah Currie almost connected to tie the game. Nathaniel Illerbrunn was also shut down and Tanner Stuempfle on his great opportunity from the blue line. Thomas Crummer kept the momentum going, but was stopped on his quick shot. The pace of the game continued to pick up as Walkerton had a wealth of opportunities, but couldn't hit the mesh. Finally at 2:22 of the second period, Hinds tied the game as he dug down deep and winded his way around the defense. We had a stellar chance to gain the lead for the first time in the game, but could not capitalize on it and had difficulty repositioning. Durham took advantage of this, scoring high on the left side of Pletch, taking a 3-2 lead into the third period.
Walkerton didn't let up in the third period. Brenden Hinds scored his second goal of the game at 9:43 making it 3-3. It was unassisted. Excellent puck handling skill Brenden!
The game went into overtime. Despite the pressure from Ryan Goetz, Joel Pletch, Jordan Lang, and Noah Currie and solid defensive plays by Jayden Dietz, Turnbull and Stuempfle, Durham finally ended the game at 8:11 of the overtime period. Wonderful effort boys. You can each hold your head high for the effort and determination you displayed.
The Prestige team hits the ice on Saturday morning against Mildmay. Good luck team!
