Mildmay Holds Prestige Boys Off the Scoreboard
Walkerton worked hard as a team and showed lots of perseverence against Mildmay on Saturday, March 9th at 10am when they hit the ice in Walkerton. Mildmay got on the scoreboard first at 8:04 of the first period, as Jared Pletch made a pad save but the rebound was deflected in the net.

Walkerton had some solid chances as Thomas Crummer passed to Joel Pletch who got a backhand shot away and Jordan Lang who passed to Brenden Hinds, narrowly missing. The period ended 1-0 in favor of Mildmay.
To start the second period, Ryan Goetz teamed up with Lang and Crummer, but were denied access. Jaden Dietz drilled one from the blue line and the puck deflected off an opposing player. It seemed like Dietz was always in the right spot to stop a pass as Mildmay continued to apply pressure and Walkerton dumped the puck into the opposing zone. At 2:40 of the second period, Hinds had a sliding chance, but the puck stayed out. Denver Turnbull, who made his presence felt on defense, showed offence as he created an opportunity, but couldn't capitalize.  After two periods the score remained 1-0.
Walkerton worked hard to repeatedly clear their zone in the third period. The prestige boys had the crowd on the edge of their seats in the dying minutes of the game as they had a plethora of chances. Stuempfle, Rich and Illerbrunn added to the defensive and offensive plays that the Prestige team had. Our goalie was pulled in hopes of tying the game. With seconds left, Mildmay scored an empty netter, making it 2-0. Solid effort boys! Get rest as you hit the ice tomorrow at high noon against Walkerton 1.
