Cornerstone Novices, U9, 2007-2008 (Walkerton Minor Hockey Association)

Well folks, this is the last scheduled game in the playoff series. Now all the games have not been submitted but nevertheless Cornerstone played their final playoff game with style. If your going to go out, go out big and go out on top; and that is exactly what we did out on the icepad this morning. Cornerstone played with heart and true vigor this morning. And it all started in the first period. In a very intense early evening game that left the crowd breathless and with our hearts racing. Both of these teams, who are very evenly matched, came out to win this very important game. This game provided close calls, great team play from both squads, and many scoring chances that never came to fruition. Cornerstone's offense played the puck up, using the boards, and passing to the open man, but to no avail, we were stumped at the net each time. Hanover skated with sticks ablazing, but excellent goal tending from Calder Davidson stopped each and every shot that Hanover to shoot at him.

Well, it was a long awaited bus trip for all of those who came with us. And to say the least the weather was a little dicey at times. However our kids got to skate where the big guys skate and had a great time doing it. As most of you know the kids played the dads in a game at the Riccho Center and as usual the kids won, however the Dads did make a strong come back. Too little too late though Dads. It was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed putting it together.

Cornerstone continued to press hard toward the brass ring. In a late afternoon game, Mitchell traveled to Walkerton to face our Cornerstone team. Cornerstone held back a bit in the first period to figure out how Mitchell was going to play out this game. And true to form, Mitchell came out hard and fast as they have all season. With Mitchell laying out the game quickly, they were able to sneak one past our goalie, Calder Davidson late in the first period. In a mid week match up against their old rivals Durham, the Cornerstone boys knew they were in for a tough game. Not wanting to disappoint the lads came out flying. End to end action was the name of the game in this important playoff match.
