Cornerstone Comes from Behind to Double Hanover
During an early evening game, Cornerstone started out slow while trying to figure out the daunting task of getting around Hanover's offense.  By the end of a Hanover dominated first period, it looked like Cornerstone was out of the loop for this game.  Hanover led the game at the end of the first, two to nothing.
The second and third periods were laden with Cornerstone's ability to get unassisted goals and penalties from both sides.  Both teams from Walkerton and Hanover played this game with a great deal of skill and passion.  With Cornerstone down by two, we needed something to happen.

And something did happen.  With three minutes left in the second period, Cornerstone found what it was they were looking for, a goal.  Fighting hard against the boards, MacKenzie McTeer fought the puck loose and skated straight to the Hanover goalie, coming around the right side of the net sent the puck flying, sneaking it past the Hanover goalie, sending the Cornerstone crowd to their feet.  Cornerstone was back in the game.  The third period found a hard working Connor Johnson scrambling for the puck at the blue line and again winning the tussle, the puck came loose and Connor went with it.  Straight to the Hanover end and he shoots, he scores, Cornerstone's second goal of the game, tieing up the game.  Cornerstone Goaltender, Calder Davidson, was busy throughout the game.  He made some fantastic saves, saving Cornerstone from a loss.
The Third period was definitely all about the Cornerstone team.  We may have started out slowly but came on strong in the end.  After a beautiful pass from Ty Arnold up the boards, the puck was jammed into the boards by the Hanover team.  Defenseman MacKenzie McTeer freed up the puck and went for another run at the net, and with a lift of the puck, it gave Cornerstone it's third goal and MacKenzie his second of the night.  Cornerstone forwards fought hard in the corners throughout the entire game, forwards such as Noah Currie, Gordon McKee and Connor McTeer made the plays happen.  The game wasn't over yet.  A determined Austin Kelly, who plugged away throughout the game found his chance to score, Late in the third period Austin Kelly freed up the puck and skated down the ice with it, he skated hard and pushed that puck through the open space at the Hanover net, giving Walkerton the win, four to two.  Cornerstone proved tonight that they can be down but don't count them out, we work hard out there and can come from behind.
