Another Playoff Win For the Boys from Cornerstone
In a mid week match up against their old rivals Durham, the Cornerstone boys knew they were in for a tough game. Not wanting to disappoint the lads came out flying. End to end action was the name of the game in this important playoff match.

Connor Johnson started the Cornerstone boys scoring as he broke in alone, from a Gordon Mckee pass, to put one past the Durham goalie early in the first. After a number of scoring chances and some really tough play by Cornerstone wingers and defense alike the score remained 1-0 after the first.
30 seconds into the second period Austin Kelly split the defense and put one high past the Durham goalie to make it 2-0 for the Cornerstone Novices. But young Austin wasn't finished yet! In one of his best games yet Mr Kelly walked in alone at 4:24 remaining in the second to put the Cornerstone boys into a commanding lead of 3-0
Tensions were running high going into the third, but the young boys from Walkerton played very strong hockey all the way thru , despite having to fight off 2 power plays for the Durham squad. Durham did get on the board with a tough earned goal in the 3rd. But as has been the case throughout the season Calder Davidson was almost unbeatable between the pipes!! Calder denied all but one during this game, playing with the flu just seems to make young Davidson that much better!!
3-1 was the final in this exciting game, that showed parents and coaches alike just how hard the Cornerstone boys will play when they want the win !!!!  All the boys fought very hard for the win, with Connor Johson and Austin Kelly leading the offense, Mackenzie McTeer and Curtis Al anchoring the Defense.
Ty Arnold and Dorian Charette played great on D to help Calder Davidson keep the Durham Boys to 1. While Noah Currie,Sam Byers,Connor McTeer, Gordon McKee and the highflying hard fighting Calvin Wilson made sure the offense got its own recognition!!
Congrats Cornerstone on another impressive win!!
Come to Walkerton Arena at 5:00pm on Sunday as the boys from Cornerstone continue their playoff run against the always tough Mitchell Novices!!
