Cornerstone Wins Second in Durham
Walkerton Cornerstone continues to create plays, complete plays and score. During the Durham tournament, Cornerstone played Listowel and Kincardine during the our first two games. Cornerstone has consistently played hard this season with some outstanding results. We continue to see great things from the line of Connor Johnson and Calvin Wilson. It is amazing to see how these two players seem to know where each other are out on the ice, and the results tend to be goals. And they did not disappoint during these match ups. During the Listowel game, which ended in a 1-0 score, the only goal during this game was by Austin Kelly with the assist going to Calvin Wilson. The defense, being lead by MacKenzie, Curtis, Ty and Dorian have built a strong alliance with one another resulting in a wall, making it difficult to get by. However, this game was won because of the talent of the Cornerstone goalie, Calder Davidson. He continues to be a force to be reckoned with. A very exciting game was played by both teams
Cornerstone's second game was against Kincardine. This game was all about Cornerstone and how we play as a team. We had a 7-1 win over Kincardine. With goals from Austin, Calvin, Connor Johnson, Connor McTeer, MacKenzie, and Noah. This was a team out for a strong win, and they achieved that. Giving our Cornerstone team the boost they needed to face Durham in the finals.
Durham continued to be the first place team in the league. They are a strong and fiercely competitive team, a definite challenge for Cornerstone. Our two teams continue to face and work hard when facing each other. And this venue did not prove to be any different. This was a game that was wrought with penalties, and a low score. At the end of the game, Durham walked away with the 2 to 1 win. Giving our boys a well deserved second place win.
