Walkerton Faces Nemisis Durham in Play Offs
Two fiercely competitive teams face each other first off.  In an early morning game, Cornerstone faced its biggest nemesis, Durham.  Both of these teams continue to play hard against each other.  Scores remain low, and the level of play remains high.  During this match up, which always proves to be an exciting game, the first period was fast paced, skated hard by both teams, and played with great intensity.  Watchers of the game could clearly see how important this game was to both teams.  Fans from both sides were not disappointed by the way this game was played out.

During the first period, Durham saw themselves in penalties a couple of times.  Both times playing through shorthanded.  Although it was played hard by both teams, by the end of the first period Durham led the game with a one nothing lead.  Cornerstone's forward continue to punch through their lines but were not able to catch the bounce from the puck.  The second period was all about Cornerstone, with  a beautiful pass from Sam Byers to Austin Kelly, Austin was able to lift the puck up and into the net.  Giving Cornerstone their first and only goal of the game.  The second period also saw Cornerstone with a penalty of their own, not surprising when these two teams meet up.
With the score all tied up, we started the third period.
This game was back and forth, from one end to the other.  Both teams played hard, and played well.  Cornerstone saw two very memorable passes.  With Connor Johnson sailing up the boards, and wall of Durham players blocking his way, he shot a back handed shot to an open Calvin Wilson who just missed getting the goal.  During another play in the third period, another soft back handed shot from Austin Kelly to MacKenzie McTeer results in some WOWs from the audience but he just could not connect the shot to the back of the net.  Just as we could see this game resulting in a tie for Cornerstone, Durham snuck one past our goalie, giving Durham the winning goal.
Cornerstone forwards, Noah Currie and Sam Byers continue to make great passes to the open man, and making great plays.  AP, Connor McTeer has been a real assist to Cornerstone with his ability to get in the play and move the puck.
All of our players continue to play hard, and play fair.  Way to go boys, from here we move on, and play hard and together as a team!!!
