Banatam Rep Girls Have Been Kept Busy
The Walkerton Rep Girls have played five games so far this month.  There has been some great competition and the girls have answered the call.  They have played very well during this stretch and have been in every game right down to the final buzzer.

Walkerton's first opponent during this string of games was Blyth-Brussels.  The girls started off the game behind the eight ball as the opposing team scored first.  Finally, in the second period the girls were able to find the back of the twine and eventually notched three goals.  Rounding out the scoring, another home goal was added in the third.  Scoring for the home club was Maddie Hickling, Bailey Thompson, Krista Konecny and Stephanie Young.  Adding helpers were Jenna Fotheringham, Courtney Borgford and Claire Walsh.

Our next competition was TCDMHA.  The girls knew that they would have fight hard and win the battles.  The team did not disappoint as they were winning races to the puck and had numerous scoring chances.  The game started off strong and was tied until halfway through the second period.  TCDMHA made a number of good and hard shots.  Although they scored six goals, Dana Borgford still played hard for the entire game and made many great saves. The Walkerton team had a lot of chances but were denied by their goalie.  The only goals were scored by Claire Walsh and Krista Konecny.   The final score was 6-2.

Up for another big challenge, the girls faced off against West Grey.  It was a hard fought match between both teams.  The Walkerton girls started off early and scored the first two goals.  West Grey managed to get the two goals back.  They even scored the equalizer with just seconds left at the end of the second period.  The last period was end to end action and both goalies were on their game.  With not much time left in the game, West Grey was able to beat the Walkerton goalie to break the tie.  It was a great entertaining game as both teams were hustling and making key plays.  Final score was 3-2 with Walkerton goals scored by Bailey Thompson and Krista Konecny.

With little rest, Kincardine came to town.  In this game both teams were evenly matched.  Great hustle, good battling in the corners and exciting shots on net.  Kincardine started the game with the first goal.  Walkerton needed to pick up their socks and keep up the pressure. They did just that and scored the next goal.  Both teams exchanged goals in the second.  The third period was pure grit and determination by both teams.  Neither goalie wanted to let the next one in.  In the end, the game came down to a tie 2-2.  Walkerton was lead by Bailey Thompson and Courtney Borgford.

Walkerton ventured out to Brussels to tack on the Blyth-Brussels team.  The team was working together as a group and worked hard to pull off a 3-0 win.  The goals were scored by Stephanie Young, Bailey Thompson, and Krista Konecny.   Dana Borgford, along with the ever ready defensive squad, earned a well deserved shut out.

It has been a busy few weeks for the girls.  Although not every girl makes the score sheet, each girl is sure contributing every game and working hard as one unit.  Great Job!!
