Bantam Rep Girls Wrap Up First Half of the Season
The Bantam Girls Rep team is ready to start the second half of their season. The Bantam girls league was divided into three groups. After two months of play, the league has divided the teams into different groups, depending on their standings in the first half. Walkerton will play against some of the same teams as well as facing off against some new opponents.
To end off the first half the girls played three great games and hope to use that momentum towards their second half of the season.
The first game Walkerton travelled to Georgian Shores. The girls skated away with a 10-2 victory. Single goals were scored by Bailey Thompson, Claire Walsh, Stephanie Young, Rachael Rier, Sophie Borho. Adding two goals to the mix was Krista Konecny. Taking over at the end of the game was Brooklyn Schnurr who scored a natural hat trick to round out the scoring.
Walkerton played host to West Grey in their next game. Although the girls fought hard they were unable to get more goals than the other team. The girls ended up on the losing end of this game by a 5-1 score. Walkerton's lone goal was scored by Claire Walsh.
With encouraging words from the coaches the girls stormed out in the next game against the Grey Highlands team. Both teams were skating hard and both goalies stood their ground stopping many shots. Walkerton ended up on top with a 5 to 2 win. Scoring goals were Krista Konecny, Claire Walsh, Bailey Thompson, Courtney Borgford and Maddie Hickling.
