Bantam Girls Rep Win Silver Medal
The Walkerton Bantam Rep Girls participated in the Markham hockey tournament early in December and skated away with silver medals.  It was a great weekend and the girls skated hard and played well as a team.

The first opponent that the Walkerton team faced was Markham.  The girls had their skating legs going as they defeated the home town team by a score of 4-1.  Walkerton got goals from Bailey Thompson, Maddie Hickling, Claire Walsh and Sophie Borho.  Adding helpers for this game were Maddie Hickling, Brooke Schnurr, Courtney Borgford, Rachael Rier and Krista Konecny.

Next game was against Gloucester.  This game was very close as the score was 2-1.  It was a great battle as both goalies kept their team in the game.  Goals were scored by Bailey Thompson and Krista Konecny.  Helping to set up the goals were Maddie Hickling, Claire Walsh ad Katie Schmidt.

The third game was played late Saturday night against TCDMHA.  The Walkerton team did not seem to have much steam for this match.  The Walkerton team was unable to get the puck into the net and eventually lost the game 3-0.  Dana Borgford did a great job in net.

After a good night sleep and regrouping the Walkerton team faced off against Ayr.  Playing back to basics; skating, passing and quality shots, the girls won the game 4-0.  Scoring goals were Maddie Hickling, Bailey Thompson, Stephanie Young and Courtney Borgford.  Assisting with the goals were Bailey Thompson, Claire Walsh and Krista Konecny.

The girls made it to the final game against TCDMHA again.  Both teams provided a great quality game that made for an interesting final.  Back and forth action kept the fans on the edge of their seats.  The game was tied going into the third period.  With two minutes left in the third period TCDMHA scored to break the tie and win 2-1.  Walkerton's only goal was scored by Rachael Rier.

Overall it was a great weekend for the girls.  The coaches commented on improved play, great passes and working together as a team.  Great work girls.
