Bantam Rep Girls Win Another Silver Medal
The Walkerton Bantam Girls recently participated in the Woodstock tournament.  They made it to the finals with wins over Petrolia and South Bruce to face off against Ayr.  After a hard fought battle and end to end action, the girls ended up losing in a close match.

Walkerton started off the tournament with a game against Petrolia.  Walkerton had to keep their skating legs moving as they were playing on a bigger ice surface.  The game was kept scoreless with many defensive plays and great goalie saves.  Each team had their chances and had a hard time converting into goals.  Finally, with less than two minutes to go, Courtney Borgford broke the drought and scored unassisted.

Later that evening Walkerton played against South-Bruce.  The girls knew that this would not be an easy match and were ready for the challenge.  They battled back and forth.  Walkerton eventually won the game by a score of 3-0.  Leading the charge was Maddie Hickling with two goals and an assist.  Not far behind was Bailey Thompson with one goal and two assists.  Single assists went to Stephanie Young and Brooke Schnurr.

As it ended up the top two teams were Walkerton and Ayr.  This made for an exciting final game.  Back and forth action kept everyone in the game.  The first period ended up scoreless.  The girls were in a battle.  After the second period the score was tied.  It came down to the final period to decide on the eventual winner.  Shortly after the third period started, Ayr scored.  As hard as they tried and tried as they might, the Walkerton team could not find the back of the net.  The final score was 2-1 for Ayr.  Walkerton's lone goal was scored by Bailey Thompson and assisted by Maddie Hickling.

Great Work Team!!!
