Busy Week For Bantam Rep Girls
The Walkerton girls played four games this week and got stronger as the week went along. They ended up winning three games and only had one loss.

The first game of the week was against Mildmay-Teeswater.  Both teams were up for the challenge and came ready to play.  Mildmay-Teeswater started off the scoring.   It wasn't until the second period before Walkerton replied with two goals.   They continued their hot scoring streak and sealed the game with another two goals in the third period.  The Walkerton girls kept up the pressure but the Mildmay-Teeswater goalie made many great saves.  Scoring for Walkerton were Katie Schmidt, Krista Konecny, Sophie Borho, and Bailey Thompson.  Adding helpers were Claire Walsh and Courtney Borgford.  Final score was 4-2 for the Walkerton crew.

Playing the next day the girls travelled to Durham to take on the West-Grey team.  It was end to end action for both teams with many good scoring chances.  The game stayed very close for he first two periods.  Then Day Light Savings Time clicked in and the Walkerton girls lost a bit of steam.  Dana Borgford did a great job stopping many shots.  Krista Konecny scored the lone goal assisted by Jenna Fotheringham.  The team lost 4-1.

Putting that game aside and making up for that extra hour the team faced off against a strong TCDMHA team.  It was no stop action right from the start.  Both teams kept trading goals.  The game was tied after the first period and then again after the second period.  It can down to the third period to decide the outcome.  In the end Walkerton  prevailed and won the game 5-4.  Both goalies played very well and it seemed that the puck had eyes.  There were a lot of weird goals as both goalies covered the net well but the puck found the smallest of holes.  Scoring two goals for Walkerton were Courtney Borgford and Maddie Hickling with Claire Walsh adding a single.  Assists went to Stephanie Young, Katie Schmidt, Rachel Rier and Sophie Borho.

Hoping to keep the winning streak alive, and still wearing the lucky boots, the team travelled to Markdale to end off the week.  Walkerton started off fast and kept up the pace for the whole game.  They were making crisp passes and took quality shots.  It was also evident that we still need Troy.  The final score was 5-0 for Walkerton.  Scoring were Krista Konecny with two, Katie Schmidt, Courtney Borgford and Claire Walsh.  Adding assists were Stephanie Young, Rachel Rier, and Maddie Hickling.

Even though not all of the girls made the score sheet this week it has been a total team effort.  The team has another busy week coming up with three more games.  Keep up the great work and hustle.
