Bantam Rep Girls Rolling into Second Half
After the dividing of the Bantam division, the girls are playing against a few new teams as well as continuing battles with teams they have played before.  It is a fresh start for the girls and they have accepted the challenge.  Over the holidays they have played four games providing many goals and exciting action.

Starting off the second half, the girls travelled to Bruce Peninsula.  This was the first time they met this team and were ready for action.  All ready short a player due to illness, one player was lost to injury before the game due to a warm-up mishap.  This left the team with even a shorter bench.  The rest of the girls buckled down and played a strong solid game.  The team ended up on the winning end by a 7-1 score.  Scoring a hat trick was Maddie Hickling and single goals were scored by Brooke Schnurr, Krista Konecny, Katie Schmidt and Bailey Thompson.  The scorers were gladly assisted by Stephanie Young, Katie Schmidt, Claire Walsh, Krista Konecny, Bailey Thompson, Jenna Fotheringham and even the goalie Dana Borgford was credited with two assists.  Great team effort all round.

The next opponent was West Grey.  The girls did not fair well during this match as they were on the losing end of the draw.  They lost the game 5-1.  Walkerton's lone goal was scored by Maddie Hickling assisted by Claire Walsh and Sophie Borho.  One bright spot for the team, it was nice to see our injured warm-up player back on the ice and get back to action quicker than expected.

The girls welcomed back Bruce Peninsula in a match just before Christmas.  Walkerton started off strong and continued to put on pressure through the whole game.  The final score of the game was 8-1.  Scoring a hat trick was Bailey Thompson, Maddie Hickling scored twice and single markers went to Brooke Schnurr, Stephanie Young and Rachael Rier.  Assists went to Claire Walsh, Krista Kocnecny, Brooke Schnurr, Rachael Rier, Maddie Hickling, and Bailey Thompson.

The first game after Christmas, the girls met a Lucknow-Wingham team for the first time.  This game was fast paced and had many end to end plays.  Both goalies played very well keeping many loose pucks out of the net.  Both teams had their chances to score and kept the fans on the edge of their seats.  The game came down to the wire and ended in a tie by a score of 3-3.  Scoring goals were Bailey Thompson, Brooke Schnurr  and Stephanie Young.  Assists went to Claire Walsh, Sophie Borho, Bailey Thompson and Krista Konecny. Great work by the defense and good goaltending kept the game close.

Keep up the great work!!!
