Fritz Concrete Novice Reps, U9, 2008-2009 (Walkerton Minor Hockey Association)

Walkerton Minor Hockey named Robert McKenzie, the Head Coach of the Fritz Concrete Novice Rep team, the Coach of the Year for the Walkerton Rep Teams at the Minor Hockey Banquet held on April 26th.

For the first time since the 1986/87 season Walkerton's Novice Rep team, sponsored by Fritz Concrete, has won the WOAA Championship defeating BCH (Bayfield-Clinton-Hensall) 3 games to 1.

Last night's 7-0 win in Mitchell wrapped up the semi finals 3-0 and moves the Fritz Concrete Novice Rep Team to the WOAA Finals against BCH (Bayfield-Clinton-Hensall) A matchup everyone has been waiting for all year. These two teams, ranked 1 and 2 in the division and have provided great hockey action all year long when they have met.

A drive to Mitchell on Sunday evening was rewarded with a 4-0 win for the Fritz Concrete Novice Rep Team and a 2-0 lead in a 5 game series. Aidan Quish earned the shutout. Game 3 is in Mitchell Friday night at 6:55 pm.

Semi-Final play for the Fritz Concrete Novice Rep Team is against the Mitchell Meteors who arrived in Walkerton this morning for a 10 am game. The Home Team lit up the score board first with 3 minutes left in the first period on an unassisted goal by Carter Buehlow. Sam Lowry Young scored unassisted in the second period to give Walkerton a comfortable 2 goal lead.
