Fritz Concrete begin Playoffs with a Decisive Win
First place Walkerton faced off against the Listowel Cyclones in first round playoff action at home today and got off to a good start with a 5-1 win.

The game was packed full of penalties for both benches but the play was typical of regular season play for both teams but the referees were obviously sending a clear message for playoffs.  Nothing would be tolerated!   Playing shorthanded for 18 minutes of the 30 minute game gave the players lots of opportunity to brush up on their power play killing skills and they were also afforded several power play opportunites.

Sam Lowry Young got the hometeam on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal from the side of the net, finding an open corner with 2 minutes left in the 1st period.  Dakota Weiler from Austin Kelly and Carter Buehlow made the score 2-0 one minute later.

Weiler and Hunter Zettler scored in the second period with helpers from Noah Leslie and Buehlow.  Buehlow added the 5th goal unassisted in the 3rd period.  Listowel's lone goal came in the second period.

The team travels to Listowel tomorrow in hopes of taking a commanding lead in the 5 game series which will continue in Listowel Wednesday evening.
