Cornerstone Wraps up Another Exciting Win
The Cornerstone Novice boys continue to work hard, and are continuing to produce great results. The first period was all about Calvin Wilson, Sam Byers and Gordon McKee. Calvin Wilson had another banner game, he continues to find his spot in each game and it is certainly paying off for him. With assists from both Sam Byers and Gordon McKee, Calvin was able to sink in two beautiful goals for Cornerstone. The Cornerstone defense continue to hold their lines in the opposition's end making it difficult for them to get past our defenses.
However, Minto did make one opportunity happen during this game as they sailed past the Cornerstone defence and shot one home, making this game a 2 to 1 game at the end of the first period.
Walkerton Cornerstone tightened their defences in the second and third period, trying to ensure that another scoring opportunity didn't happen again. The second period saw defenceman, MacKenzie McTeer, trek his way up through the Minto defences and score Cornerstone's third goal, unassisted. However, this line was not finished their scoring yet. Later in the second period, passes from Connor McTeer to MacKenzie McTeer and through to an open Connor Johnson sent Cornerstone's fourth goal through. Calvin Wilson was then given his third set up by Curtis Al, who continues to find the open player at the right time, giving Calvin another hat trick, in yet another game.
The third period for Cornerstone was all about letting our single players shine. Curtis Al and Calvin Wilson both found chances to drive to the Minto net and score unassisted goals. Ending this game at a 7 to 1 score.
