Playoffs Game #2 vs. Kincardine Kinucks #1
The second game of the 2018 playoffs would have the Capitals to travel to Kincardine to play the Kincardine Kinucks (Victoria Park Laundry) #1 team on Sunday, February 11th.  The second game in as many days the Capitals were hoping to extend their latest winning streak.

The opening minutes of the first period would see the Capitals storm the Kincardine net.  Several shots would hit the goal post behind the Kinuck net-minder, unfortunately for Walkerton the puck would never find the back of the net.  Kincardine would open the scoring with just under 5 minutes remaining and would take a 1-0 lead into the second period.

The second period would start quickly as both teams would pressure the opponents net.  The two goalies were each stellar making several key saves and doing a great job of covering up rebounds.  As the period continued the teams would settle into a game that would be played for the most part in the neutral zone between the two blue lines.  Kincardine would score in the final minute of the period to take a 2 goal lead into the final period.

Walkerton would come out quickly in the third period but found itself taking shots from bad angles and little sustained pressure Kincardine would easily clear its own end.  The Capitals would score with 2:29 remaining when Xander Thornton sent a cross ice pass to Scott McTeer who would go to the net and send a wrist shot just over the blocker of the Kinucks goalie to cut the lead in half.  Walkerton make a few rushes into the Kincardine zone but again the puck would be cleared and out of harms way.  After taking a late penalty the Capitals would pull their goalie in an attempt to tie the game, sadly it was not to be and the team would fall 2-1.

The first lost of the playoffs the coaches reminded the boys that there is still plenty of hockey to be played.  The team will have to get back to playing a style game that served them so well throughout the season.
