Playoffs Game #9 vs. Kincardine Kincuks #1
The Capitals would play the Kincardine Kinucks #1 team on March 6, 2018 in Walkerton for their final home game of the season.  The boys were hoping for a strong game after its recent over time loss and the team certainly showed up.

From the initial puck drop in the first period Walkerton would control possession and pressure the Kincardine zone.  The Capitals would open scoring 2:44 into the period when Cobi Johnson took a pass from Cayleb Peitz and scored stick side.  The Capitals would score its second goal of the game with just 17:03 seconds remaining when Kyle Romphf released a hard shot from the slot that beat the glove hand of the Kincardine goalie, assists were credited to Tyler Wallace and Carson Filsinger.  Walkerton would take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The scoring would continue early in the second period when Colby Schmidt finished a fine passing play and caught the corner of the net after his wrist shot was fired from the bottom of the face off circle, assisted on the play were Tyler Wallace and Keegan Batte. The Kinucks would then mount an attack of their own and step things up even more as the Capitals ran into some penalty issues.  Walkerton’s goalie, Ryan Hinsperger, made several outstanding saves while the defence in front of him blocked several other attempts.  As the period continued Kincardine would find themselves running into their own penalty issues.  Walkerton would score on the power play when Keegan Batte fired a shot from just inside the blue line that made it through a maze of legs and into the back of the net.  Tyler Wallace would pick up his third assist of the game on the play.  Walkerton lead 4-0 after two periods of play.

The third period would see Walkerton start with a man advantage continued from late in the second.  Ryan Graul would fire top corner after taking a pass from Connor Farrell and Cobi Johnson.  The Capitals would then score its third power play of the game when Tyler Wallace used his explosive speed on a break away before sliding the puck under the Kinucks goalie unassisted.  The scoring would wrap up after Kyle Romphf would record his second of the game assisted by Keegan Batte and Cobi Johnson with 26.5 seconds remaining.

The boys played a spirited game for a solid three periods.  The power play was exceptional as was the penalty kill while in their own end.  The boys moved the puck well and were rewarded because of it.
