Playoffs Game #6 vs. Kincardine Kinucks
The Walkerton Capitals would travel up Highway #9 to play the Kincardine Kinucks on February 25, 2018.  This would be game six of the playoff round, and with several team all jockeying for those valuable points it would be an important game for each team.

The first period would see the Kinucks get on the score board early when just before the 2 minute mark a centering pass hit a Walkerton defender and bounced passed the Capitals net-minder.  The Capitals would battle back as the period went on but were having troubles hitting the net with the puck.  Most shots would go wide or would be easily covered up.  The period would end with Kincardine leading 1-0.

The Capitals would score 32 seconds into the second period when a cross ice pass was intercepted by Carson Filsinger who then sent a pass back to Scott McTeer who would fire from the top of the face off circle and beat the Kincardine goalie low glove side.  The Kinucks would break the tie just 3 minute later and once again the period would end with Kincardine leading 2-1.

The third period and the Capitals would come out firing on all cylinders.  They would make several strong rushes into the Kincardine zone and would be rewarded with 9:13 remaining while on the power play when Scott McTeer took the puck from the blue line and from behind the net centred to Tyler Wallace in the slot whose one timer beat the Kincardine net-minder.  The Capitals would continue to pressure and just 45 seconds later would again be rewarded when Cayleb Peitz would get around the Kincardine defence before shooting the puck five hole to give Walkerton its first lead of the afternoon.  The two teams would each have a couple of good scoring chances as the period continued but strong goaltending at each end proved hard to beat.  As the period was winding down the Capitals would find themselves short handed on several occasions.  After killing of a penalty that ended with just over 2 minutes remaining the teams would continue to battle for puck possession.  The Capitals would take a final penalty with just 59 seconds remaining and Kincardine would pull its goalie for a two man advantage.  Walkerton would kill off this final penalty and come away with a hard fought victory as the final buzzer sounded.

The Capitals would play a great third period but they must remember that the game itself is three periods in length.  The skating game was slow to start but improved greatly as the game went on.  The passing that has been a high point of the teams success for most of the year also improved as the game continued.
