Playoffs Game #8 vs. Hanover Falcons
The Walkerton Capitals would play the Hanover Falcons on
Sunday, March 4, 2018. The game number
eight in the playoff round be action packed and feature strong play from both
teams.
The Capitals would open the scoring with just over two minutes into the first period when Cayleb Peitz would burst in on a break away and release a wrist shot that would go top corner on the Hanover goalie. The teams would work hard throughout the period and test each others goalie with some exception shots on net. The period would end with Walkerton holding a 1-0 lead.
The second period and the pace of play would continue at a feverish pace. Hanover would tie the game one and a half minutes into the period after a forward would score on a break away the period would end with the two teams tied at 1-1.
The third period and the teams would continue to battle for puck possession and control as the period continued to tic away. No scoring would occur in the period so the teams would play an additional ten minutes or less of overtime hockey. The action was continuous and only some great goal tending from both sides kept the game going as long as it did. Unfortunately for Walkerton the Falcon’s would fire a shot with just less than four minutes remaining that would beat goal tender Ryan Hinsperger. The Capitals would fall to the Falcon’s in a hard fought game. The crowd in the stands, however, was treated to an exception game of hockey.
