Game 21 vs. AEMHA Ice Dogs
The Walkerton Capitals would play their final regular season game on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018.  They would host the visiting AEMHA Ice Dogs in what would be a close and highly entertaining game.  The Capitals would again find themselves down several players along with their head coach and assistant coach so line juggling would again be the name of the game.

The first period would see the two teams battle hard and compete for the puck from the opening face off.  The Ice Dogs would open up the scoring just over two minutes into the period when a goal mouth scramble had an Arran Elderslie player lift the puck into the back of the net.  The Capitals would tie the game with just over two minutes remaining when Cobi Johnson would beat the Ice Dogs net-minder low stick side.  The first period would end in a 1-1 tie.

The Capitals would come out quickly in the second period and would be rewarded just one and a half minutes into the period when Tyler Wallace would score unassisted with a high wrist shot.  Arran Elderslie would come back to tie the game just a few minutes later.  The two teams would go back and forth throughout the period but there would be no further scoring, the period would end with the teams tied at 2 a piece.

The third period and the Capitals would come out hard with continued pressure in the Arran Elderslie zone.  The Capitals would score with 9:44 remaining when Keegan Batte would be credited with a goal after taking a pass from Kyle Romphf.  Walkerton would increase its lead after Kyle came down the wing and fired a wrists shot that found the top corner of the net.  The scoring would conclude when Carson Filsinger would finish off a fine passing play with a shot that found the back of the net, assisting on the goal were Kyle Romphf and Kody Brown.  The period would end with Walkerton killing a penalty and Arran Elderslie pulling its goalie for a 2 man advantage.  The Capitals would clear the defensive zone several times to limit the Ice Dogs opportunities.

Another strong performance from everyone.  Solid goaltending, the defence was again strong and the forwards were moving the puck well throughout the game.  A special thanks to those who filled in while the coaches were away.  The playoffs will be up next for the Capitals, the boys are playing excellent hockey here is hoping it continues deep into the playoffs.
