Game 19 vs. West Grey Warriors
The Walkerton Capitals travelled to Ayton on Friday, January 26th, 2018 to play the West Grey Warriors.  The Capitals would again find themselves short several players so line juggling would be the key to success.

The first period would see both teams come out quickly and test the opponents goalie, back and forth the teams would race up the ice but each goaltender would stand tall in the nets.  Walkerton would open the scoring with 2:02 remaining when after the face-off in the Warrior zone Cobi Johnson sent a pass back to Keegan Batte who fired a high wrist shot on net that eluded the Warrior net-minder.  The Capitals would hold a 1-0 lead after the first period of play.

Play during the second period settled into a much more conservative style game most of the better scoring opportunities would come from the point or from off to the sides of the net.  The goalies would stop everything thrown at them and as the period ended the Capitals still lead by 1 goal.

The third period had the tempo pick up once again and the Capitals would storm the West Grey net early and often.  Just prior to the 4 minute mark of the period a fine passing play would increase the Walkerton lead.  Cayleb Peitz would score after taking a cross ice pass from Cobi Johnson and Scott McTeer.  Walkerton would then add to its lead just a half minute later when Jack Walter slid the puck into the open corner after jumping on a loose rebound.  The assist was credited to Cobi Johnson.  As time continued to tick away the Capitals would find themselves killing off several penalties.  The boys would kill off the penalties with solid defence and a few key saves from goaltender Ryan Hinsperger.

Walkerton would again play a solid two way game, the team was moving the puck with speed and efficiency while the passing was strong and crisp.  The defence would allow very little shots through to the net and those that did make it were covered up to prevent any additional scoring opportunities.
