Game 17 vs. South Bruce Blades
The Walkerton Capitals would visit Mildmay on January 15th to play the South Bruce Blades.  The game would be closely contested and one that either team could win.

The game would start off at a tentative pace.  Each team would make rushes into the opponents end only to have the puck stripped before the shot could be taken.  The Capitals would open the scoring while on the power play when Cayleb Peitz would send a pass to Carson Filsinger who would come down the wing and send a hard wrist shot on net, the rebound would come out to Cobi Johnson who would then send the puck into the back of the net.  Walkerton would lead 1-0 after the first period of play.

The second period would see the Blades come out quickly and score 2 goals before the half way point in the period.  The Capitals would make several rushes in an attempt to tie up the game but the Blades net-minder would make several key saves to preserve the lead.  South Bruce would lead 2-1 after two periods of play.

The third period would again see the Capitals attempting to tie up the score, several rushes would fall short after players would find themselves into tight on the goal tender to make the shot or pass the puck.  South Bruce would continue to fire on the Walkerton net but Ryan Hinsperger would stand strong in goal.  Walkerton as a whole would fall back and help clear away any loose pucks.  Walkerton would tie the game with 2:29 remaining while again on the power play.  The Capitals would gain the South Bruce zone when Carson Filsinger would send the puck behind the net where Cobi Johnson would battle two Blade players for control.  Cobi would then come from behind the net and beat the goalie with a wrap around for his second goal of the game.  As time was winding down the Blades would make a last ditch attempt, however, the defence was stellar in clearing the loose puck from in front of the net and out of harms way.

While not the usual high tempo crisp passing game that the Capitals typically play, the team would work hard and battle throughout in the end to salvage a point.
