Capitals win opening playoff game
The Walkerton Capitals peewee LL team won its first playoff game Saturday, beating the visiting Mount Forest Rams 2-0.

Following a scoreless first period, Walkerton’s Kobe Dautey scored early in the second, assisted by Brayden Grife, to put the home team on the board. Solid defence and strong goaltending by Lucas Rowe held the Rams off, and the Capitals led 1-0 after two.

In the opening minutes of the third, a hard shot by Grife was stopped by the Mount Forest goalie, but Logan Morrison buried the rebound to give Walkerton the 2-0 advantage. In the final two minutes of the game, with the Capitals on the power play, the Rams pulled their goalie but Walkerton held on and Rowe picked up his second shutout of the season.

The peewees, sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102, will face Saugeen Shores #2 on home ice this Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a game against Lucknow on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
