Walkerton peewees advance to second round
The Walkerton peewee LL boys are moving on to the silver final in the WOAA playoffs.

The local Capitals, sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102, went 6-1-1 in the opening round-robin series. With 13 points in the north division, Walkerton has advanced to the silver final against Blyth/Brussels, the top team in the south loop. With one game left to play, Blyth/Brussels is undefeated in round-robin action and can’t be caught.

Walkerton’s final game of the first series was Wednesday against the West Grey Warriors #2 when the Capitals secured a 4-1 win over the home team. Kobe Dautey and Brayden Grife scored two goals apiece with assists going to Luke Schmidt, Alex Brandt, Dautey (2) and Grife. Lucas Rowe earned the win in net.

The best-of-three series against Blyth/Brussels will begin after the other teams finish their round-robin series on March 12. In the WOAA peewee maroon division, AEMHA will take on either Ripley, Wingham or Zurich, while in the white division, Owen Sound #1 will face off against South Bruce.
