Bantam Girls Rep Start Season
The Walkerton Bantam Girls Rep team have started off their season with a bang.  They have played four games and have skated away with four wins.  All of the games have been exciting and entertaining.  All the girls have been contributing and working together making it look like a great hockey season.

The girls started off with an exhibition game against Lucknow.  It did not take long for the girls to get acquainted with their new linemates and defense pairings as they scored 12 goals in this game.  Everyone seemed to be in the right spot, made crisp passes and had many end to end rushes.  Scoring for the home team were;  Stephanie Young with four goals, netting two goals, Bailey Thompson, Maddie Hickling and Jazmine Weber.  Single markers were credited to Brooke Schnurr and Katie Schmidt.  It was an entire team effort as all of the players on the team added an assist.  Dana Borgford played well in net.

The regular season started off with a match against South Bruce.  The Walkerton girls came out strong and had numerous chances at the net, only to be stopped by strong goaltending.  Finally, Walkerton was able to find the back of the net.  South Bruce had several chances of their own but Dana Borgford stood tall to the challenge to record the shut out.  Brooke Schnurr pocketed two goals and Maddie Hickling added a helper.  Final score 3-0 for Walkerton.

Saugeen Shores was the next opponent.  This game was a fast paced game with many shots fired at each net.  Both goalies made many fine saves keeping their respective team in the game.  The only goal came early in the first two minutes of the game.  Many parents where still trying to find their seats and for those who came late even missed the goal.  The draw was won by Stephanie Young and Brooke Schnurr fired the puck passed a screened Saugeen Shores goalie.  After everyone was settled, they were highly entertained with end to end action.  Dana Borgford many amazing saves to another shut out.

The girls ventured away from their home rink to face Lucknow.  Once everyone arrived at the same arena, the girls were prepared to play.  The team only had eight skaters but were ready for the challenge.  Both Lucknow goalies made it hard for Walkerton to score, as they played a great game.  Stephanie Young scored the first goal with a little help from the post.  Briana Hudson showed great patience around the net for her goal.  Stephanie Young was hankering for another goal and shot through a crowd in front of the goalie.  Rounding off the scoring was Brooklyn Schnurr with a nice wrist shot.  Everyone played extremely well and managed a 4-1 win.

Great start to the season and keep up the good work.
