Bantam Girls Start Second Half of Season
The Bantam Girls have entered into the second half of the season with some new teams and one team that they faced in the first half.  The games have been close and exciting providing the fans with some exciting entertainment.

The girls faced off against a very fast paced Mount Forest team.  The defense had to be on their toes as Mount Forest could spring up the ice at any time.  This game was back and forth with both teams facing tough goalies who made key saves to keep the game close.  It was a close game and not until the last minutes of the game did Walkerton skate away with a 3-1 win.

Walkerton ventured up to Saugeen Shores for their next match.  These games have always been close with many scoring opportunities.  Saugeen stormed out of the gate and got three goals before Walkerton knew what happened.  Finally, in the third period the girls tried to battle back but ran out of steam and time losing 3-2.  Goal scorers were Maddie Hickling and Bailey Thompson.  Stepahanie Young picked up both assists.

West Grey was our next opponent.  Back and forth action saw the girls come out with a 2-0 victory. Dana Borgford and the defense did a great job at keeping the puck out of the net to record the shut out.  Scoring the goals were Stephanie Young and Maddie Hickling.  Adding assists were Bailey Thompson and Sophie Borho.

Saugeen Shores headed into town for another match.  Once again exciting end to end play and great goaltending kept the game scorless for a long time.  Eventually both teams found the back of the twine making for a 2-2 tie.  Scoring for Walkerton were Katie Schmidt and Brina Hudson.  Helping with assists were Jazmine Weber, Jenna Fotheringham and Brooke Schnurr.

TCDMHA was our next opposition.  It was a fast moving and scoreless game until midway through the second period.  The Walkerton team eventually found their scoring touch and netted eight goals.  Dana Borgford did her best fish out of water play but TCDMHA did manage to sneak one past her.  The final score was 8-1.  Leading the attack were Brina Hudson and Brooke Schnurr each with a hat trick and Maddie Hickling added two long distance goals as well.  Several assists were added by Jenna Fotheringham, Bailey Thompson and Stephanie Young.

Great games and kep working hard.
