An Action Packed Game Against Normanby
It was a fast paced game against Normanby at 8:30 pm with lots of hitting from both sides. Normanby put Walkerton back on their heels for most of the first period, resulting in a 4-0 lead for Normanby, ending the first period. Ben Schmidt was aggressive in the offensive zone, holding the puck along the boards for a face off in Normanby's zone.  However, an attempt off the face off by the Walkerton Power Worker's team was futile.

Things quickly changed in the second period as Walkerton rebounded with four goals of their own.  Two came from Landon Moore, one from a Ryan Girdler and the tying one from Austin Kelly.  Other notable chances came from Noah Currie and Cody Jones as he attempted a redirect pass.  At the 2:50 mark of the period, Girdler took a spot on pass from Michael McAskill.  He made no mistake in potting one for Walkerton. This gave the Power Worker's team a 5-4 lead.  Jared Pletch came up big making some key saves as Normanby doled out more chances.  Moore scored so quickly that it went undetected by the referees, hitting inside the lower corner and bounced out just as quickly as it went in.  With seconds left in the period, Normanby tied the game. With time elapsing, Pletch made a neat pad save to keep it tied at five a piece.
As the third period began, Noah Currie's efforts and zeal by Brett Wagner were squashed by the Normanby goalie.  Thomas Crummer  made his presence known as he scurried along the boards, inching the puck into the offensive zone.  Normanby scored glove side on Pletch, making it 6-5.  Later on, another goal against Pletch through the five hole on a siding play sealed the deal. On a last ditch effort, Walkerton pulled their goalie, but to no avail.  An empty netter resulted in a final score of 8-5 for Normanby over Walkerton.  Nice effort team! The Walkerton Power Worker's team will hit the ice next on Saturday, March 1st at 4pm in Mildmay against South Bruce.  Come out and enjoy the excitement!
