What Started Off Good, Ended with a Terrible Outcome
The Walkerton Power Worker's Team traveled to Milverton on Monday night and experinced a 8-2 beating, despite having two solid periods of play.

The game started off well with a nice opportunity to score by Ben Schmidt close to the net.  At the 5:02 mark of the first period, Milverton scored a quick goal off the top bar, making it 1-0 for Milverton.  Chances followed for Walkerton from Jordan Bester and Ty Arnold who teamed up together and Landon Moore who weaved his way into the offensive zone. Jared Pletch delivered a fine blocker save at he end of the period. The period flew by with end-to-end action.
The second period started strong with solid face offs by Joel Pletch.  At 11:47 Milverton scored again on the glove side of Pletch. This was short-lived as Ethan Schmidt made a dandy play scoring top shelf for Walkerton at 11:35. This made it 2:1 for Milverton.  The flurry of activity continued with Milverton scoring again was Pletch was outstretched.  Noah Currie, Austin Kelly and Jordan Bester made some near magic which excited the crowd.  this was followed by Jared Pletch's stick save.  Despite having a penalty, Landon Moore showcase his offensive skills by blasting a shorthanded goal to make it 3:2 for Milverton. Congratulations is extended to Landon for scoring a season high with a whopping 50 goals. Yes, you heard it right! 5-0 goals this season. Nice work!  Pletch held his ground in net as Milverton circulated the puck well and applied lots of pressure. Defensive pairings of Gina and Brett; Michael and Ethan came up in the later part of the period as Walkerton had to fight off penalties.
The third period was a different story and atmosphere altogether for Walkerton.  Five unanswered goals by Milverton and questionable refereeing resulted.  Regardless of lapses in plays, Ryan Girdler, Landon Moore and Michael McAskill debuted effort as they forged toward the net several times.  Ethan Schmidt also provide a solo play which rattled the goalie. This was followed by opportunities from Thomas Crummer and more by Jordan Bester. Great game Jordan! Better luck the next game team as you play against Owen Sound on Saturday for your last outing.  Let's work hard to go out on a winning note with hard work and sportsmanship echoing Walkerton's style all year long.
