We Couldn't Buy a Goal Tonight
The Power Worker's team in red, white and blue played hard throughout their game against South Bruce. They came up short despite having many stellar opportunities in a 3-0 loss to South Bruce. We just couldn't notch one past their goaltender to spark our fire.

It was 9:09 of the first period when Jared Pletch made a skate save. Moments later, Ty Arnold pinched in to maintain the offensive zone, affording Landon Moore a hard shot on net that was gloved by the South Bruce goalie.  Minutes later, with South Bruce on the attack, they slid one past Pletch to make it 1-0 for South Bruce. Ethan Schmidt has a solid shot that was gloved as well.  Landon was in close quarters for a shot that ricocheted high, barely missing.  Ty Arnold, Jayden Louther and Autin Kelly tried to put Walkerton on the scoreboard, but were also stopped.  Austin Kelly did show some fancy stick handling among the defense, but was also shut down.  Noah Currie made his presence know in front of the opposition's net for sure.  Our team fought hard and surged on with opportunities but were denied on all accounts. The period ending in a 1-0 score.
Period two started off with a goal for South Bruce that Pletch wanted back.  Nonetheless, Walkerton continued to be driven and the parents were experiencing a nail-biter of a game.  Brett Wagner went from end to end, getting off a beauty shot that was blocked.  It left Walkerton's fans wanting more.  Gina McKee may have had her best game yet, out skating the oppostion, engaging in key plays and being a force to be recognized on defense.  Evidence of her skill came as she manhandled and then positoned herself to pass the puck to Michael McAskill. He drove the puck with undeniable force, yet it was smothered by the South Bruce goaltender.  Joel Pletch also pitched in for some offense alongside Ben Schmidt and Thomas Crummer.  Their efforts were also futile.  Currie was another force to be reconed with offering two golden chances that were stopped.  With a lapse in judegement and our continued offensive mindedness, South Bruce continued to apply pressure, beating Pletch on a the short side with a deke.  This advanced South Bruce 3-0.  Ethan Schmidt again engaged in offensive plays, resulting in a bobbled play, but not goal ensuing for Walkerton.  It was definitely hard to sit still as a fan because of the excellent opportunites that Walkerton demonstrated.
Trailing behind by three goals as we began the third period did not stop the effort or opportunites from Walkerton.  Jordan Bester, Jayden Louther and Landon Moore teamed up for a great opportunity that was pushed aside.  Cody Jones also fed off to a goal hungry Michael McAskill, but to no avail.  The Walkerton Power Worker's team played hard, but came up short tonight.  It was like we could not even buy a goal tonight.  Better luck in your next game against Mt. Forest on Saturday at 5pm. Remember to keep your stick on the ice and hit the back of the net.  More importantly...HAVE FUN TEAM!
