A Close Game Against Brussels
The pace was quick and the players were keen after their Christmas break to resume hockey, but the Walkerton Power Worker's team came up short in the dying seconds of their game on Friday, January 3rd.

Christian Kieffer should be applauded for his amazing effort to keep Walkerton in their game as Brussels came on full force for all three periods.  The first solid chance came when Landon Moore rifled one wide of the nest and Jordan Bester got the rebound that was gloved by the Brussels' goalie.  Ryan Girdler was on his game as he put Walkerton on the scoreboard for the lone goal of the first period at 12:57.  Austin Kelly picked up the assist.  The plays were back and forth for both teams.  The skilled defensive pairings of Gina McKee and Ryan Girdler; Thomas Crummer and Cody Jones; Michael McAskill and Ethan Schmidt where kept busy killing off two penalties in the first and a few in the third period.
The second period saw Brussels on the attack more which resulted in two quick goals at the four minute mark, putting them up by a goal.  Kieffer wowed the crowd with some key saves. The Walkerton team did not give up and had their own opportunities to even the score. The period ended 2-1 for Brussels.
Midway through the third period, Landon Moore evened the score at two a piece as he zigzagged through their defense.  Ryan Girdler and Cody Jones got the assists.  With 28 seconds left in the third period, Brussels potted one giving them the win.  The Walkerton team should be proud of their effort and sportsmanship throughout the game. Well done team!
