Prestige Pee wee's Win B side Championship
The Prestige Contracting Pee Wee Team started off slow, but came out victorious.
The Prestige team had a early game Sunday morning and played a good game to the Mt Forest Rams, but came out losing 2-1. The boys played a offensive and hard hitting game with numerous scoring opportunities, but couldn't get the puck past the hot Ram's goalie. our AP's of Colton R and Michael F,as well as the rest of the Prestige team seemed to hold their own to the Ram's offense, and had a couple of break away's but were denied by the Ram's goalie. Our defense held there lines, played great positional hockey and pushed the puck to there forwards numerous times, giving our very own # 19 Ethan S the first goal of the Tournament.
The second game our boys came out to play, putting the lose behind them and looking at taking this game to the next level, and so they did, Playing the Durham Huskies and winning 5-2 giving them the go ahead to the B side finals. Ethan S came out again popping in 2 goals along with Austin K getting 2 and Jaydan L getting his first of the season, our forwards played and exceptional game passing the puck up to the open man and our defense utilizing the boards and open ice to push the puck up.
Championship action B side Finals saw the Woolwich Wolves a much bigger team out to win, but that never deterred our young Capital's club. Calder D stood on his head in net helping not just the team in front of him but his own Father that was on the bench coaching. The Wolves opened up the scoring midway into the first and held that until #9 Christian K unassisted tied it up with just .58 seconds left in the second period.The Wolves tried many times to get the puck in behind our goalie, but were denied the opportunity by great goal tending by Calder D and the defense, at one point in time we were down to only 3 skaters on the ice, with and 3 men in the penalty box, and our boys playing great positional hockey and keeping the Wolves off our front door. With the Wolves on a power play and us one man down Austin K came out of the penalty box just behind the Wolves defense and Brett W passed it to Colton R one of our Ap players chipped it to Austin K to give us a 2-1 lead, with just under 3 minutes left in the game, the forwards of Noah C, Brett W, Christian K, Ethan S, Austin K, Colton R AP, Michael F AP, Jordan B, played the last few minutes like it was the last game of the Stanley Cup finals holding the Wolves to the outside and keeping the Woolwich team from scoring. The young Cap's team played a very fulfilling and exciting bunch of games and our defense of Calvin W, Cody J, Jaydan L and Ty A helped keep the team moving and gave our Goalie Calder D a well deserved win. The Prestige team played together as a whole unit to bring home the B side Championship and give the Walkerton Capitals a place on the trophy that hasn't been there for a couple of years.
