On Saturday February 4th, the Prestige Pee Wee L.L. hosted their twin Walkerton Weber’s Pee Wee L.L. team.
Prestige opened the scoring with Brett (The Hitman) Wagner
potting one, with an assist coming from Austin Kelly. Weber’s responded with a
powerplay marker in the second period with a point shot from Curtis Al being
tipped in by Drew Cobean. Prestige
scored again on a feed from Austin Kelly, to spring Christian Keiffer on a
breakaway and put his team ahead 2-1.
Weber’s responded a mere 10 seconds later, on a nifty
pass from Conner Johnson to Scott Eddyvean who finished a Tick-Tack-Goal play
to tie things up at 2-2. Prestige went ahead in the third period, on a high
shot from Austin Kelly, assisted by Ethan Schmidt and Brett Wagner. Ethan
Schmidt then remembered to use his wheels and drove to the net to put in a
rebound from a Christian Keiffer shot. Finally, Austin Kelly closed things out
with another goal, assisted by Ty Arnold and Jordan Bester. Did I mention
Jayden Louther? Well, I should. With his
defense corps short a player and some Prestige penalty problems to boot, Jayden logged some very long shifts and
without any complaining, delivered his usual steady and solid play. This was
noticed by the whole bench staff. Calvin Wilson did a good job working the
D-Door and kept the bench staff on an even keel.
This
marks the end of regular season play. These two teams ended with an even record
against each other and head into playoffs now. Best of luck to both groups of
young men and hope they have some good fun in playoffs.
