Prestige Pee Wee L.L. Visit Normanby
On Monday January 23rd, the Prestige Pee Wee L.L. team visited the solid playing Normanby team in Ayton. Both teams came off a tough “lessons learned” match-up with the Mildmay squad and were looking to see how they would fair off against each other.
Walkerton lit the lamp in the first five minutes of the game
with a nice breakout play from Jayden Louther, to Brett Wagner, to Austin Kelly
who tossed a high shot in, to make it 1-0.
Walkerton
had nice work from their “AP” players Michael Fortney, Colton Rutledge and
Chase Walker Hauck. The defence of Jayden Louther, Fortney, Cody Jones and the
ever solid Ty Arnold kept the dangerous shots to the outside and in the low
percentage areas to allow Walkerton to keep the game to a shutout and win 1-0.
Noah Currie continued to make his deft quick passes and Ethan Schmidt kicked
his forechecking up a gear, to force turnovers throughout the game. Christian
Kieffer patrolled the centre ice in good fashion again, while Jordan Bester put
on a hustle clinic with honest forechecking and tenacious backchecking.
Close,
exciting game for all to see. Well done, young men on both teams.
