FRITZ NOVICE'S OMHA SILVER FINALISTS
The Fritz Novice Reps are wearing silver medals after a hard fought Game 5 against Shallow Lake. With home ice advantage and a packed barn of cheering Walkerton fans, the Capitals came out strong and hungry for the gold.
After a disappointing game 4 loss to the Lakers the previous night, the boys and girls came out to win Monday.

In the first period Walkerton's Riley Keip started the scoring 34 seconds into the game. This got the kids pumped and they worked hard to keep the Lakers from scoring.  Great defensive play by Keaton Eidt, Cameron Klein, Tyler Crummer and Emily Mason, kept the Lakers away from our net and we finished the period 1-0 for the Caps. The second period saw the Lakers coming out fast and with only 54 seconds into the second the Lakers scored to tie the game up.  Walkerton wasn't giving up. Quick feet and forechecking by our forwards, Tyler Folmer, Chloe Zettler, and Skye Berfelz kept the Lakers from scoring until half way through the second the Lakers popped one in our net. A couple minutes later a quick pass from the Caps Adam Girdler to Turner McKenzie would tie the score at 2. Unbelievable saves from our own Ryan Fotheringham as well the Lakers goalie  kept the fans on the edge of their seats.
With a couple of minutes left in the second the Lakers scored to finish the period Lakers 3, Capitals 2.
Another tense third period started and the Capitals had lots of shots to try and tie the game up. Three minutes in, Aiden Hinsperger broke through and got a beauty shot between the pipes to make it a 3-3 game. The clock couldnt run fast enough and with just over 5 minutes left Shallow Lake broke through and scored. With an extra man and empty net Walkerton played their hearts out and with three seconds left, the Lakers scored an empty netter. Lakers 5 Walkerton 3.

What a terrific play off journey it has been. From putting out Drayton and Goderich to the final series against Shallow Lake in five games, it has been an exciting ride!! Congratulations to all of the players of the Fritz Novices! You have done well and we are so proud of you! Congratulations to Coach Mike Klein and bench staff, Stan Hinsperger, Greg Crummer and Andy Girdler.
A huge thank you to our Walkerton Fans for coming out and cheering us on!
