Fritz Novice Rep Champions!!!!!
The Fritz Novice team was singing "we are the Champions" after a thrilling overtime shoot out to win the "B" division in Durham Rep tournament on January 14th.
The first game of the day saw the boys lose to a strong Cayuga team. Cayuga gave our goalie a workout. After several attempts at scoring our team couldn't push it through their net and lost 6-1.
Game 2 proved to be a fairly evenly matched game against the host team, Durham. The guys and gals had to play hard to earn their 3-1 victory to advance to the championship.
The championship game against Stayner proved to be an exciting and not-so-easy victory. The kids played their hearts out and never gave up. Heading into the 3rd period with a scoreless game we soon realized that losing was not an option. Our Walkerton Capitals had several chances on Stayner's goalie with lots of "almosts".
The game ended with a 0-0 tie. OT it was. After an "edge of your seat" 4th overtime period we were still scoreless. We were now into a shoot out. With 2 amazing saves by our goalie Ryan Fotheringham and 2 goals by Aiden Hinsperger and Turner McKenzie victory was ours!!!
Congrats to Sky Berfelz, Tyler Crummer, Keaton Eidt, Tyler Folmer, Ryan Fotheringham, Adam Girdler, Aiden Hinsperger, Riley Keip, Cameron Klein, Turner McKenzie, Emily Mason, Chloe Zettler and Zach Saunders for your determination and hard work! Thanks also to coaches Mike Klein, Stan Hinsperger, Andy Girdler and Greg Crummer.
