John Ernewein Juvies Take Game 1!
The guys got the start they wanted, struck first and took the series opener.
The Capitals came out strong, established their forecheck, generated some pressure and got rewarded with power play opportunities that finally paid dividends at the 6:08 mark of the first when Andrew Dentinger banged home a weakside rebound, the lone assist went to Steve Thompson. The penalties continued for both sides but it was Walkerton who again took advantage on the power play at the 6:17 mark of the second off of the stick of Kurt Petrik who buried a nice top shelf wrister from a tough angle and gave the team the all important two goal lead. Helpers went to Jake Barclay and Adam Dales. Ennismore got their own power play marker at 5:37 of the third off of a re-direct but could not mount any further chances as Walkerton was determined to close it out and capture the series opener. The two teams will return to the Walkerton arena today (Sunday) at 3:30 for game 2. Come on out and support these guys in their attempt to return to the OMHA finals......GO CAPITALS GO!!!!
