It's Not How You start the Race It's How You Finish It - Eh Nate!
Funny how a comment on the bus on the trip up to Elmvale could so accurately foreshadow what was to come .

In a penalty filled first period Walkerton struck first at 3:09 on the power play off of the stick of Trevor Robinson on a nice slot feed from Kyle Parks, the additional assist went to Andrew Dentinger. The juvies then took a four minute minor at the 3:05 mark and Elmvale got the equalizer at the 0:28 second mark ending the first in a 1 - 1 tie, but not before Walkerton was again penalized with two two-minute minors with only 0:06 seconds left in the period. Early in the second Elmvale took advantage of the two man advantage and took the lead at 13:26 followed by an even strength goal at 12:46.  The Capitals, getting back to five on five play, started to exert some offensive pressure and closed the gap to 3 - 2 on the power play by Andrew Dentinger on a nice back door pass from Robinson with the other helper going to Steve Thompson. Elmvale did not relent and got two more before the period ended to skate into the flood with a commanding 5 - 2 lead and a power play opportunity to start the third. Uneventful play continued through most of the third until Walkerton got its first break, scoring again on the power play with only 4:26 left in the third. The power play marker from Robinson and assisted by Mac Cassidy and Kyle Parks sparked the guys and within 25 seconds they bulged the twine again to close within one. This even strength goal came off of the stick of Jake Barclay assisted again by Cassidy. This quick two goal strike had Elmvale on their heals and the Capitals smelt blood continuing their assault on the opposition. With 1:55 left on the clock the Capitals got the equalizer again from Barclay's stick with Parks earning the assist and ultimately sending the game into OT. The juvies carried the play in overtime and got the series winner at the 1:19 mark with Robinson finishing off the hattie in fine fashion going top shelf from a nice short pass feed from Dentinger. The Capitals will now wait for the Eastern winner of Stirling, Ennismore and Loyalist Township for the OMHA semi finals. Watch the web site for schedule updates. Go Capitals Go!
