Provincial Playdowns
The Godfather's Pizza Peewee girls have begun their provincial playdowns for the month of
February. They will be facing Kincardine, South Huron and Stratford to compete for the chance
to attend the OWHA Provincial tournament in Mississauga in April. Good luck team!!!
The team faced Kincardine on February 9th and came away with a 3-0 win. All three Walkerton goals were scored in
the first half of the first period. Sarah Biesenthal started the scoring for Walkerton assisted by Faith Yensen and Lauren
McLean. The second goal for Walkerton was scored by Destiny Berberich and assisted by Faith Yensen and Katrina
Young. Katrina Wyatt netted our third goal assisted by Katrina Young. The team played a great defensive game holding
off their opponents for the next two periods. Alyssa Inglis recorded the shut-out for Walkerton.
South Huron visited Walkerton on February 15th and our team suffered a 3-1 loss. Despite battling hard and firing
many shots on the opposing net, the girls could only record one goal. Marielle Adams scored that goal for the team
unassisted.
The team travelled to Stratford on February 16th and came away with a 1-1 tie. Again the girls played hard but
could not capitalize on their chances. Walkerton's lone goal was scored by Sarah Biesenthal and was assisted by Faith Yensen. The team will face South Huron and Stratford next weekend.
