Second Place Finish in Mitchell
The Walkerton Capitals Peewee girls rep team recently participated in the Mitchell Meteors
girls tournament.  The team played some tough hockey facing teams such as Ilderton, London and
Stratford to end up in second place overall.  This put the team in the final game on Sunday against
Stratford.  The girls put in a tremendous effort but could not defeat their opponent in the championship
round.  Leaving with the silver, the girls could be proud of their hard work and accomplishments
this season.

The team faced Ilderton in their first game on Friday March 14, and skated away with a 2-0 win.  Walkerton goals
were scored by Sarah Biesenthal from Lindsay Dales, and Marielle Adams from Emalee Haight.  Lauren McLean
received MVP honours for that game for her strong defensive play.
London was the opponent for the girls on Friday evening with 2-1 being the final score for Walkerton.  Adams
netted the first goal assisted by Katrina Wyatt.  Faith Yensen added the second goal from Destiny Berberich and
Biesenthal.  MVP for this game was Katrina Young with a strong defensive game.
Saturday March 15th saw the team playing Stratford and ending with a 0-0 tie.  Sarah Biesenthal received the MVP
for her aggressive play in this game.  Alyssa Inglis played well in net for the team stealing many chances for the
opponent with help from Victoria Carroll on defence.
Walkerton faced Stratford again on Sunday March 16th in the final game for the peewee B division.  The team skated
hard but could not overtake the larger opponent and lost 2-1.  Faith Yensen- game MVP- had the lone goal for the team assisted by Biesenthal.  Great job girls!
