Game 3 vs. TCDMHA Rebels
The Walkerton Capitals would travel to Keady on Wednesday,
October 30th, 2019 to play an early evening game against the TCDMHA
Rebels. The game would be a spirited
tilt and a rematch of the season opener.
The first period would see both teams have several great scoring opportunities. It would, however, be the Rebels who would capitalize twice in the opening period the Capitals would trail 2-0 after the first period of play.
Walkerton would come out quickly to start the second period with several breakaway attempts but once again the goals would be hard to come by. The Rebels would score to take a commanding 3-0 lead but it would be the Capitals who would keep sustained pressure in the opposition end. TCDMHA would lead 3-0 after two periods in the books.
The third period would again see the Capitals come out quickly and be rewarded early. Cayleb Peitz would score just 28 seconds into the period. The Rebels would then respond less than a minute later to again restore its 3 goal lead. Walkerton would continue to press and would score with just under 2 minutes remaining when Cayleb Peitz would fire a hard wrist shot that would bound over the goalie and roll into the net behind him. Walkerton would battle to the final buzzer but would pull no closer.
Walkerton would again play a strong game but would fall short in the end. Strong goaltending and some great end to end rushes made for an exciting game.
