Romphf and Grife record 5 points apiece
Kyle Romphf and Brayden Grife recorded five points apiece in their last three games for the Walkerton Capitals bantam LL boys. The team won all three games and moved up to fifth place in the 13- team northern loop.

Romphf scored the lone goal Tuesday, assisted by Grife, as Walkerton shut out the TCDMHA Rebels 1-0 in Keady. Walkerton goaltender Ryan Hinsperger earned the win in net.

The Capitals also skated to a 4-0 win over the third-place AEMHA Ice Dogs on Jan. 13 in Paisley. The shutout went to Hinsperger, who had a strong performance in this game. Walkerton goals were scored by Cayleb Peitz, Luke Schmidt, Romphf and Grife, with assists from Romphf, Jacob Girdler, Peitz, Cobi Johnson, Dylan Reay and Tyler Wallace.

In action Jan. 12, the local boys narrowly defeated the Kincardine Kinucks #1 with a 5-4 win. Johnson, Romphf, Reay, Wallace and Grife earned the markers for Walkerton, with assists going to Romphf, Peitz, Grife (2), Wallace (2), Reay and Aragon Karn.

The Capitals’ defensive pairs helped secure all three wins. Solid plays were noted by Tayt Weber, Alex Brandt, Liam Osborne, Scott McTeer, Xander Thornton and Karn. Forwards Kody Brown and Ryan Graul also contributed to the win streak.

Walkerton’s last regular season game is set for Feb. 3 in Lion’s Head against the Bruce Peninsula Northstars at 3:30 pm. The boys will also participate in the Minto Minor Hockey Bantam LL Tournament on Feb. 9 before starting the playoffs.
