Three goals in two games for Peitz
The Walkerton Capitals split their first two games of the bantam LL boys’ north division playoff round, beating the West Grey Warriors #1 on home ice before losing to the same team on the road.

The win came Feb. 5 during a rough game that resulted in numerous penalties for both teams. Walkerton won 5-2, with Cayleb Peitz scoring twice for the local boys. Kyle Romphf, Jacob Girdler and Luke Schmidt each added singles. Assists went to Romphf (3), Zander Thornton, Aragon Karn and Cobi Johnson.

West Grey faired better during the re-match in Ayton on Feb. 6, handing the Capitals a 2-1 loss. Peitz scored the lone marker for Walkerton on a pass from Romphf, his third goal in two games.

The Capitals take a break from the playoffs tomorrow when they compete in the Minto Minor Hockey Bantam LL Tournament. They return to the ice for three games in three days beginning Sunday with a 4 p.m. game in Shallow Lake. Playoffs continue Monday with a 7:15 p.m. home game against Saugeen Shores #1, and Tuesday with an 8 p.m. home game against the Kincardine Kinucks #1.
