Game 7 vs. Kincardine LL1
The Walkerton Capitals would host the Kincardine LL1 (Leader Wind) on Sunday, November 18, 2018.  The game would be a hard fought battle right from the opening face off.

The opening few minutes of the first period would see each team have some excellent scoring opportunities only to have the goalies make outstanding saves.  Walkerton would open the scoring just over half way through the period when some hard work behind the net by Ben Eddyvean and Colby Schmidt who centered a pass out front to Matthew McNaughton who fired a wrist shot into the Kincardine net.  Kincardine would score with just over a minute remaining in the period to tie the game at 1-1.

The second period would see Walkerton continue to pressure in the Kincardine zone.  The Capitals would beat the net-minder but ring the puck off the post several times.  Walkerton would score with 4:36 left in the period when Kyle Graul buried a high wrist shot into the top corner assisting on the goal were Matthew McNaughton and Colby Schmidt.  The Capitals would take a 2-1 lead into the final period.

The third period and each team would pepper the opponents net with shots only to have the goalies make some key saves.  Walkerton’s Caden Chapman would play the entire game as Seth Young was sidelined with an injury.  Caden would make several outstanding saves throughout the game including a classic poke check that would make the late Johnny Bower proud.  Kincardine would capitalize on a shot from the top of the face off circle that would find the top corner to even the score.  The game would end in a 2-2 tie but over all a very strong performance from both teams would make for a very entertaining game.

The boys were using the cycle game well and worked hard in the corners throughout.  The defence core blocked shots and were very effective in clearing pucks from in front of their own net while working hard to keep the puck inside the blue line while in the Kincardine zone.  The forwards were strong and played hard in the corners and were great at back checking against a fast skating Kincardine team.
