Playoff Game 7 vs. Saugeen Shores Storm
Game 7 of the playoffs and with first place still undecided every game would be important.  This game would feature the Capitals visiting Southampton to play the Saugeen Shores Storm #1 team.  The game would feature end to end action throughout and the final outcome in doubt until the final buzzer.

The first period would see the two teams battle up and down the ice.  Both goalies would be called upon several times to make some outstanding saves in order to keep their team in the game.  Walkerton would open the scoring on the power play after Colby Schmidt would send a hard centering pass to Kyle Graul who shot would beat the Storms net-minder from the slot area.  The Capitals would hold a 1-0 lead after the first period.

Walkerton would increase its lead when Cody McIntyre would take the puck from his own end and split the defence before going glove side on the Saugeen net.  The Capitals would score late in the period after some great work in the Saugeen Shores zone.  Colby Schmidt would finish off a fine passing play to put the Capitals up by three after burying a hard shot, assists were awarded to Cody McIntyre and Kyle Graul.

The third period would see the Storm come out of the gate quickly and score two goals only 14 seconds apart in the opening moments.  Saugeen Shores would then spend the next few minutes pressuring the Capitals in their own end but some outstanding goaltending and defensive play would limit the Storm chances.  Kyle Graul would score after snapping the puck from the hash marks assisted by Cody McIntyre.  Just over one and a half minutes later Jack Walter and Ben Eddyvean would go in on a two on one where Jack’s pass would be right on the tape of Ben’s stick and his one timer straight into the back of the net.  The Storm would continue to press and would score with just over four minutes remaining to cut into the Walkerton lead.  The teams would continue to battle to the final buzzer but no further scoring would occur.

Walkerton would prevail with a hard fought victory.  While there was a bit of a lapse in play during the third period overall Walkerton would play a strong game and worked hard throughout.
