Playoff Game 8 vs. TCDMHA Rebels
The Walkerton Capitals would host the final game of its 2019 playoff round robin series against the TCDMHA Rebels.  The Rebels would be the only team to defeat the Capitals during its playoff run this season so Walkerton was looking for a bit of payback.

The Capitals would come out quickly and open the scoring just over a minute into the first period as Colby Schmidt would finish off a great three way passing play with a wrist shot over the glove of the Rebels net-minder.  Mason Lina and Kyle Graul would be credited with assists on the play.  Walkerton would then score with just over 5 minutes remaining when Jack Walter buried a hard shot into the far corner assisted by Ben Eddyvean and Chase Kaufman while the Capitals were short handed.  On the ensuing face off the Rebels would press in the Walkerton zone and slide the puck into the Capital net to cut the lead in half just as the power play was winding down.  The Capitals would head into the second period holding a 2-1 lead.

During the second period the two teams would continue to battle in the opponents end but the two goalies were strong in between the pipes.  The Rebels would tie the game with 2:27 remaining in the period while again on the power play and the game would remain tied at the end of the second period.

Early in the third the Capitals would restore its lead when Logan Bradley would weave between Rebel defenders and deke the goalie before sliding the puck into the open side, assisting on the play were Cody McIntyre and Shawn Lacey.  The scoring would continue when Cody McIntyre would unleash a hard wrist shot from the slot area after Ben Eddyvean sent a pass back to the blue line with just over 2 minutes remaining.

The Capitals win would solidify first place overall in the North Division and mean that Walkerton would move onto the White Championship series vs. Listowel.  Walkerton played well throughout the round robin and will need to keep the momentum going into the final series.  The team will need to work on playing a full game and staying out of the penalty box with undisciplined play at times.
