Mitchell Tournament
The Walkerton Capitals would travel to Mitchell on November 10th to play in the 63rd Annual Peewee Tournament hosted by the Mitchell Meteors.  The Capitals would play at least two games on the first day in hopes of progressing to Sundays finals.

The first game of the day would see Walkerton face the host team from Mitchell.  The teams would battle throughout the game in what would be a closely contested match.  The Capitals would open the scoring just over 4 minutes into the period when Logan Bradley centered a pass to a waiting Mason Lina who fired a shot stick side to beat the Meteors goalie.  Mitchell would respond in the final seconds of the period with a goal of their own to tie the game.

The second period would be an epic battle both in the neutral zone as well as deep into the corners.  Mitchell would score just  before the half way point of the period and would hold onto take a 2-1 lead into the third.

The third period and Mitchell would increase its lead just over 5 1/2 minutes into the frame.  The Capitals would pull out all the stops and pepper the Mitchell net with shots.  Walkerton’s Kyle Graul would then snap a wrist shot over the glove hand of the Meteors net-minder with just under 4 minutes remaining.  The Capitals would continue to pressure and would dominate the final few moments but while coming very close would be unable to draw even.  The game was exciting and the boys left it all on the ice in an attempt to get valuable points in the round robin.

For as well as the team played in game one game two would leave a lot to be desired.  The opponent this time would be the New Hamburg Huskies #1 team.  The Huskies would come out quickly and score just 32 seconds into the game to take an early lead.  New Hamburg would then go up by 2 when just over 4 minutes into the first.  The Capitals would pull within a goal when Cody McIntyre beat the Huskie net-minder after taking a pass from Logan Bradley.  The Huskies would restore its 2 goal lead on the ensuing face off and take a 3-1 lead into the second period.

The two teams would battle throughout the second and third periods but the Capitals always seemed to be second to the puck and the shots on net easily stopped.  New Hamburg would tally one in the second and one in the third and would eventually take the game 5-1.  With two losses in the round robin the Capitals would be relegated to the consolation game.

The consolation game would see Walkerton play the Wingham Ironman.  Walkerton would play its style of game, fast skating, strong puck control would see the Capitals play a very spirited game.  Cody McIntyre would score two and Kyle Graul would tally as the Capitals would take a 3-1 lead after the first period of play.

The second period and the scoring would continue with Logan Bradley scoring early in the period while Cody McIntyre completed the hat trick half way through the period.  Although not overly tested the two Walkerton net-minders would stand strong making several outstanding saves.

The Capitals would score three more times in the third with Ben Eddyvean and Jack Walter each finding the back of the net while Cody McIntyre would score late for his fourth of the game.  Walkerton would skate away with an 8-1 victory.  The team played a strong game from the opening face off until the final buzzer.  Hard work along the boards and deep in the corners, strong positional play and great passing where each and every of the team worked hard to salvage a win.
