Pee Wee Girls Win Season Opener!!
The Walkerton Capitals Pee Wee Girls started off their regular season with a 5 - 2 win at home on Tuesday, October 9 against the Twin Centre Hericanes.
The girls started strong with several chances early on but just couldn't find the back of the net. Vikki S. make some key saves to keep the score knotted at zero through the first period.
Walkerton finally got on the scoreboard in the second period with a goal by Avery W. Avery was all over the scoresheet with a goal and 2 assists.
The coaches must have had some inspirational words between the second and third periods because the girls came out on fire in the third. Brina H. took these words to heart, scoring 3 goals in a 4 minute time frame.
The Hericanes made it interesting in the third bringing the score to 4 - 2 before Brook S. sealed the win with a blistering shot from the point to make it 5 - 2 with just over a minute left to play in the game.
Other point getters this game were Samantha H. with 2 assists, Brook S. with 2 assists, and single assists by Bailey T., Katie S., and Madison H.
The entire team showed fantastic speed and hustle which provided for a fast paced game, congrats girls!! Keep up the good work!!
